We move the whole room, not just the boxes

Every job starts with a walk-through and an inventory you can read. The same crew that wraps your furniture is the crew that carries it back in — and they stay until the last box sits in the room you chose.

01 — The day itself

Five stages, in this order

Most moving-day problems are timing problems. This is the sequence we work to, and the point at which you need to be available.

01

Survey and plan

We walk both properties, measure the awkward pieces — wardrobes, sofas, upright pianos, anything heading up a turn in a staircase — and write the inventory. You get the crew size, truck size and running order before you commit.

You need: 30 minutes, access to both ends

02

Pack and protect

Packing happens the day before on anything larger than a one-bedroom flat. Glass, mirrors and artwork are crated; drawers are emptied; mattresses go into fitted covers. Every carton is labelled with its destination room, not its contents only.

You need: to set aside your overnight bag

03

Load

Floors and bannisters get runners and corner guards first. Loading follows the unload order in reverse, so beds and essentials come off the truck early at the other end. The lead signs the inventory with you before the doors close.

You need: parking cleared, lift booked if there is one

04

Unload and place

Boxes go to the labelled room. Beds are reassembled, wardrobes rebuilt, white goods set in position and levelled. Tell us where the sofa sits once and we will not ask you twice.

You need: someone on site to direct rooms

05

Walk-through and clear

We check the inventory off together, flatten and remove the cartons you are finished with, and book a free crate collection for the rest. Any damage is recorded on the spot rather than weeks later.

You need: 15 minutes before the crew leaves

02 — Services

Five ways we work

Pick the closest match when you ask for a quote. We will tell you honestly if a different lane suits your job better.

Full house move

Crew of 3–5 · One or two trucks

Two to five bedrooms, packed the day before and moved in a single run where the distance allows. Garden furniture, sheds and garage contents are quoted separately so they do not get forgotten on the day.

  • Dismantle and rebuild beds, wardrobes and flat-pack units
  • Floor runners, door frame guards and bannister wrap
  • Appliance disconnection for plug-in units

Flats and walk-ups

Crew of 2–4 · Stair-carry rated

Narrow stairs, half-landings and buildings with a service lift booking window. We plan the carry route first and bring a hoist strap set for anything that will not turn on a landing.

  • Lift booking and loading bay times handled with the building manager
  • Shuttle van where the truck cannot reach the door
  • Communal area protection, removed before we leave

Office relocation

Crew of 4–8 · Evening and weekend slots

Desks, storage walls and server cabinets moved out of hours so your Monday is normal. Everything is crated by desk number against a floor plan you approve beforehand.

  • Desk-level labelling tied to a numbered floor plan
  • IT equipment crated with cable bags kept per workstation
  • Old furniture taken for reuse or recycling on request

Packing and crating

Crew of 2–3 · Full or partial

Book the whole house, or just the kitchen and the fragile shelves while you handle the rest. Timber crates are built to size for mirrors, screens, instruments and framed work.

  • Double-wall cartons, acid-free tissue and corner protectors
  • Wardrobe cartons so hanging clothes stay on their hangers
  • Unpacking service with same-day carton removal

Storage shuttle

Crew of 2–4 · Move out, move in later

For the gap between completion dates. Your inventory stays on one list across both legs, so nothing is counted twice or lost between the two moves.

  • Load into your own unit or one we arrange nearby
  • Single continuous inventory across both legs
  • Second leg booked when your date confirms

03 — Packing standards

Labelled for the room it is going to

A carton marked “kitchen” is useless at the far end of a hallway. Ours carry the destination room, the floor, a short contents line and a sequence number, written on two sides so you can read it in a stack.

  • Books in small double-wall cartons — never in large ones
  • Plates packed vertically, glassware in cell dividers
  • Screens and mirrors in built-to-size timber crates
  • Lamp shades boxed separately from their bases
  • Fixings bagged, taped to the furniture they belong to
  • Cables coiled and labelled per appliance or workstation

04 — What shapes your quote

Five things change the number

We quote on time, crew and volume rather than a flat rate per bedroom. Knowing these five things in advance makes the figure you are given the figure you pay.

Factor 01

Volume, not room count

A sparse three-bedroom house can load faster than a full one-bedroom flat. The survey measures what is actually there, including the loft and the shed.

Factor 02

Access at both ends

Distance from the door to the truck, stair flights, lift availability and whether a large vehicle can legally stop outside. Long carries add crew, not just minutes.

Factor 03

How much packing you want

Full pack, part pack or boxes delivered for you to fill. Part packing the fragile rooms only is usually the best value if you have the time.

Factor 04

The date you choose

Month ends, Fridays and the last working day before a holiday are the busiest slots. A midweek date in the same week is often noticeably cheaper.

Factor 05

Special items

Pianos, safes, large aquariums, garden statuary, oversized art. These need the right kit and sometimes an extra pair of hands, so tell us early.

05 — Honest limits

What we can't take

Better to read this now than to find out on the morning. If something here applies to you, ask anyway — we can usually point you to the right specialist.

  • Fuels, gas bottles, paint thinners, fireworks and other flammables
  • Open or part-used chemicals, including pool and garden treatments
  • Plants travelling more than a few hours in a closed truck
  • Fresh or frozen food, and open fridge-freezers that have not been defrosted
  • Pets and livestock — they travel with you, not with us
  • Cash, passports, jewellery and medication you may need that day
  • Plumbed-in appliances where the disconnection needs a licensed trade
  • Loft insulation, rubble and building waste

06 — Questions we get weekly

Before you book

How far ahead should I book?

Three to four weeks for a midweek date, six for a month end or a Friday. If your date is not confirmed yet, hold a provisional slot with us — we will keep it for two weeks without a deposit and tell you if someone else asks for it.

What happens if it rains all day?

We work through it. Doorways get extra matting, upholstery and mattresses go into waterproof covers rather than fabric ones, and the tail lift is loaded under a canopy where there is room. Only genuinely unsafe conditions — ice on a long carry, a storm warning — move a date, and we would call you the evening before.

Do I need to sort out parking?

Yes, at both ends, and it is the single most common cause of delay. Clear your own driveway, ask neighbours the day before, and arrange a suspension or permit if your street needs one. Tell us the nearest legal stopping point and we will bring a shuttle van if the truck cannot get close.

Can you move my fragile or antique pieces?

Usually yes. Mirrors, marble tops, framed work and glass cabinets are crated to size rather than blanket-wrapped. Mention them at survey so the crate is built and dry before packing day, and so the loading plan puts them flat against a bulkhead rather than stacked.

Can I pack some rooms myself?

Of course — part packing is common. We will deliver cartons and tape ahead of time and usually suggest you keep the wardrobes and the garage while we take the kitchen, the glass and anything breakable. Self-packed cartons are carried and recorded like any other, though we cannot vouch for how the contents were packed inside.

What if my completion date moves?

Tell us the moment you hear. Dates shift constantly and we keep a short reserve on every week for exactly this. If the new date is not available we will offer the nearest alternatives, or load into storage for the gap and bring everything back out when you are ready.

Will the same crew do both ends?

Yes. The crew that packs and loads is the crew that unloads, with a named lead who stays on site all day. On long-distance jobs a second driver may share the drive, but the people handling your furniture do not change halfway.

Do you take the empty boxes away?

We flatten and remove whatever you have emptied before we leave, and book a free collection for the rest once you have unpacked. Timber crates and wardrobe cartons are reusable, so they always come back to us.

07 — Request a quote

Tell us the shape of the move

Six fields is enough for a realistic figure. We reply with a crew size, a truck size and a price band, then arrange the survey if the numbers work for you.

We use what you send here to prepare your quote and nothing else. No deposit is taken until you accept a written figure.

08 — The last hour

The move ends when the room works

Not when the truck is empty. Beds made up, wardrobes standing, the kettle findable and the inventory signed off together. That last hour is the part most people remember, so it is the part we refuse to rush.
